How do I start a Trade In?
It’s simple! Either go to our Trade-In landing page to get an overview of the process or go straight to our online portal and register any items you wish to trade-in. Then print out your free postage label and send your items back to us – please make sure they have been recently washed (preferably in non-bio) before sending.
What items can I Trade In?
We trade in any Eczema Clothing stock item that has a high cotton content, is clean, undamaged, unmodified and less than 4 years old. This covers the majority of our brands including Cotton Comfort, Living Crafts, Grodo, Albero amongst others.
The only three brands we cannot take back are
- Eco Outfitter school uniform - we do not stock the schoolwear from Eco-Outfitters – they hold this stock and ship it directly – so we cannot take these items back.
- Julie May underwear – these contain silk so we cannot recycle them.
- Happy Skin kidswear – these are made of Tencel so we cannot recycle them.
Why does it say Trade In not available?
This may be because the item is from a brand we are not able to take back – either because we don’t hold that stock or it doesn’t have a high enough cotton content – see above for the brands we cannot take back. Or it could be because it is more than 4 years old.
Is there a minimum value of goods that I can get a Trade In credit for?
Yes - £5 is the minimum credit voucher available. As we offer free postage for you to return your trade-in garments, we need to have a sufficient quantity of garments to justify this. So you’ll need to send back garments which are worth at least £5 worth of credits to generate a Trade In voucher.
What size parcels do you accept?
We recommend the size and weight for each parcel does not exceed the below.
Length 30cm | Height 20cm | 15cm width
Weight 15kg
My Eczema Clothing item is not showing in the Trade In portal. Can I still send it in?
Simply click ‘Register Product' on the Trade-In portal page and follow the instructions to tell us about your item. Once we receive your Trade In, it will be inspected and the details confirmed. The voucher value will be adjusted if the incorrect item is registered.
Can you accept a Trade In from overseas?
No, sorry, our Trade In initiative is currently only available for UK customers. The cost and carbon footprint of shipping back to us from overseas means we cannot accept Trade In items from abroad.
Where do my pre-used items go?
All garments will be processed, washed and then either:
A) offered for sale on our site as ‘pre-owned’ - we plan to set this up in 2024 if we have enough returned garments in good condition.
B) donated to Eczema Outreach Support (EOS) to pass on to kids and families living with eczema.
C) sent to Cotton Lives On, who are based in the UK and recycle cotton clothing into mattresses, many of which are used to support homeless communities.
You can be sure that nothing will end up in landfill or overseas!
How do you set the Trade In price?
We’ve tried to keep it really simple with our ‘no bother, no quibble, no charges’ return process. We have determined a price for each garment that takes into consideration the cost to us of processing the items (including postal cost to get it to us) and the potentially limited market value of the items.
You can see our Trade In prices here.
How can I spend my voucher?
Vouchers can be redeemed online at www.eczemaclothing.com and entitle customers to money off an online purchase. Items can be from any collection, including sale, but cannot be redeemed against gift cards. Vouchers must be used in a single transaction and only one voucher can be applied per order. They cannot be combined with other voucher codes issued separately, e.g. on promotions.
Why should I use Eczema Clothing’s Trade In instead of selling myself online?
Eczema Clothing’s Trade In was launched to make the process of extending the lifespan of our garments as easy as possible for our customers and to help pass these onto new loving owners in the eczema and itchy skin community.
With our scheme, you can return your items to us free of charge, there is no photography required, and there are no selling fees. Simply pop your items back to us, and we will sort the rest and issue your voucher!
How long does it take to receive a voucher?
It can take up to 3 weeks from receipt of your Trade In parcel to receive your voucher.
Do Eczema Clothing make a profit from my returned items?
We don’t expect to make profit from your returned items, in fact we see this as an investment for us. We are investing this scheme as we think it is the right thing to do for the planet and for our eczema community.
Can I buy pre-owned Eczema Clothing items?
We hope to set up a second hand / resale area of the website in 2024 but this will depend on the quantity and condition of the garments we get back.
Watch this space for more details or sign up for emails (see bottom of our home page) and you’ll be the first to know when this goes live!
