Why We Designed Our Own Bras (Instead of Selling Someone Else’s)

Finally... a range of bras specially designed for sensitive skin and eczema! Want to stop finding your bras irritating - and feel cool and comfortable? Then try our bra collection specially designed for you - with 100% organic cotton, flat seams and hypoallergic fastenings.

If you've ever struggled to find a bra that's genuinely comfortable when you have eczema or sensitive skin, you're not alone.

Over the years we've received countless emails from customers asking us the same question:

"Can you recommend a bra that won't irritate my skin?"

We searched.

We tested.

We stocked some of the best bras we could find.

But there was always a compromise.

Some used synthetic fabrics. Others had bulky seams, irritating labels or uncomfortable components. Some fitted ok but weren't designed with sensitive skin in mind. Others simply weren't supportive enough or didn’t wash easily.

Eventually we reached one conclusion.

If we wanted a range of bras that truly met the needs of our customers, we would have to design them ourselves.

So in early 2025 we decided to create our own and 18 months later after an enormous amount of work... we are incredibly excited to launch three new bras under our own Cotton Comfort brand.

Unlike much of the underwear we stock, these haven't been sourced from another manufacturer.

Every detail has been designed by us specifically for women with eczema, sensitive skin and allergies, or just a love of beautifully made super comfortable underwear.

And every decision has been made with one core question in mind:

"Will this feel kinder against sore or sensitive skin?"

Designed with One of the UK's Leading Bra Experts

Designing a bra is one of the most technically challenging jobs in clothing design and we knew that this job needed specialist advice.

That's why we partnered with Sarah*, an experienced garment technologist who has spent decades designing and fitting bras for major retailers and specialist brands.

Today she also teaches bra design at London College of Fashion, helping train the next generation of lingerie designers.

Together we combined Sarah's technical expertise with our own 40 years of experience helping people with eczema and sensitive skin.

It was a genuine collaboration between lingerie design expertise and real-life experience of living with eczema.

“It was a real pleasure to work alongside the Eczema Clothing team and their factory throughout the process. Together, we've created bras that I hope many women will find genuinely comfortable to wear, whatever their lifestyle.” Sarah Raskino, Bra Designer

From Sketch to Sample: Sarah Talks Us Through the Process

Every great bra starts with understanding who it's for, says Sarah.

We began by deciding on the three styles that would best suit Eczema Clothing's customers, before creating digital patterns and detailed technical specifications for the factory to produce the first samples.

Each style was then made in two different knits of fabric (both made of 100% organic cotton) so we could compare how they looked, felt and performed. After our first fit sessions, we selected a soft rib fabric that provided the best combination of comfort, flexibility and support.

From there, it was all about refining the details. We adjusted the internal construction to improve support, carried out several rounds of fittings across different sizes, and refined countless small details to achieve the best possible fit and look This took months as we roped in family and friends to try them on Only once we were completely happy we approved the final pre-production samples, which became the benchmark for the finished bras.

At Eczema Clothing, we believe clothing should be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Creating our own Cotton Comfort bras is another important step towards that mission.

For us, this isn't simply a product launch.

It's the result of months of listening to customers, working with experts, testing designs and refusing to compromise until we were genuinely happy.

We hope these bras help women spend less time thinking about uncomfortable underwear and more time simply getting on with life, in comfort.

We can't wait to hear what you think.
